Re: [pci] PCI interface of FPGA to SUN Sparc workstation

Hello

Firts of all, if you're planning to connect a board to a sun workstation you should choose what type of bus. if you choose the PCI bus there are several options:

  1) To design on yourself the interface: I think the starting point is the book "PCI   System Architecture". Then you should choose the FPGA: cyclone from Altera for example.

  2) To get a free PCI core and maybe optimizate the code.

  3) If you are not used to work with FPGA, use a core from Altera or Xilink.

There are PCI board available from diferents manufactures or distributors: Altera, Memec,..

see you,

note: are you spanish?

Hi,
I'm planning to interface a SUN workstation to an FPGA on a
development board using perhaps a PCI bus i.e run computationally
intensive parts of an algorithm on the fpga,by using an interrupt
mechanisam(or function call to the fpga).
What are the issues I should look at and what would be a starting point
to develop the interface,or there any regular off the shelf products
which can be used either directly or with slight modification.

Kindly do help me out.

Thanks,
Sriram
