[ecc] Viterbi encoder - decoder

i am 8th semester student from sri jayachamarajendra college of 
engg,VTU,karnataka


i am doing final year project on "viterbi encoder decoder in vhdl" using 
student version MAX+plus software.

we encountered a problem while designing decoder part.

that is we are not able to design the add_compare_slect of the final 
surviver path metric.

we have an pdf file, but there is no detail explanation

so request you to send me some references as soon as possible

it would be very kindfull sir
