RxDOS ReadMe The RxDOS executable distribution consists of the following files: rxdosbio.sys rxdos.sys rxdoscmd.exe rxdvdisk.sys autoexec.def config.def makeboot.bat rxd_boot.exe The makeboot batch file is used to make bootable floppies. Run makeboot without any arguments for help. It will use rxd_boot.exe to write a boot sector, then copy all of the above files in their proper order: rxdosbio.sys, rxdos.sys, rxdoscmd.exe, rxdvdisk.sys, autoexec.def, config.def DO NOT format a floppy disk with a label. Boot works by looking at the first two entries in the root directory. A label will cause the boot loader to think that the floppy is not a system or rxdos floppy (see enhancement requests below). Features: will recognize and read FAT12, FAT16, and FAT32 drives supports long filenames supports long filenames API supports unquoted long filename, for example: cd \This is a long name with spaces (will not require quotes) Known Or Reported Issues: cd sometimes doesn't work deleted files with LFN will sometimes still show in directory (display problem) cd rom redirector interface doesn't work non-dos partitions will cause RxDOS to fail bug in FAT32 code will cause it to fail on >2G drives Support: post any and all comments to rxdos@egroups.com, http:\\www.egroups.com\lists\rxdos, or http:\\www.freedos.org I will cross post or correlate comments across both groups. I only manage the view on egroups.com Work In Progress: port to A86 is underway shortly anti-virus port underway if you are looking at some of these bugs, let me know I will post a who is doing what message shortly, so be sure to email me with your interest/ work Mike Podanoffsky rxdos@egroups.com
