README (Version 1.1)
The subdirectory CandS contains the files CPROGS.m, CURVES2D.m,
ICURVES2D.m, PCURVES2D.m, CURVES3D.m, PLOTPROG.m, SURFS.m and ACRO.m
and the Notebooks CURVES2D.ma, CURVES3D.ma, SURFS.ma.
Make a subdirectory of your home directory called CandS
and copy all of theses into it. You should
add the command
AppendTo[$Path,"~/CandS"]
to your init.m file so that the files can be read into
a Mathematica session. The Mathematica notebooks
CURVES2D.ma, CURVES3D.ma, SURFS.ma provide a guided tour
via Mathematica of "Modern Differential Geometry
of Curves and Surfaces". Each of theses notebooks is readable on
a NeXT, a Mac, or on a PC running Microsoft Windows.
The other files are as follows:
CSPROGS.m contains miniprograms for manipulating curves and
surfaces.
CURVES2D.m contains parametrizations of plane curves.
ICURVES2D.m contains implicit definitions of plane curves.
PCURVES2D.m contains polar definitions of plane curves.
CURVES3D.m contains definitions of space curves.
SURFS.m contains definitions of surfaces.
PLOTPROG.m contains useful plotting commands that
supplement those of Mathematica.
TUBES.m contains precomputed formulas for tubes about space curves.
GMCUR.m contains precomputed formulas for the Gaussian and
mean curvature of surfaces.
ACRO.m contains programs to convert Mathematica graphics to files
readable by Acrospin.
The subdirectory Notebooks contains the following Notebooks:
Moebius.ma is a notebook about the Moebius strip.
PlaneCurves.ma is a notebook about plane curves.
Steiner.ma is a notebook about Steiner's surface.
