Looks like the two beeps ought to be in the connect() function in /usr/bin/ppp,
(maybe just after the loop that draws the '....'s), but like you, I wasn't able
to find the expected beeping code. I found the '....' code, but no beep code.

Scripting a beep is easy enough though:

        # echo -e \\\007

...but where is it?
