If win98 fdisk is anything like its predecessor suggest "fdisk /mbr"
It will not repair the partition table, but if the partition is
mountable I guess that means it is intact it should repair the remainder
of the master boot record though whether it takes information from the
bios to do this i do not know.
Anyway before changing anything you could always use mu to back up the
mbr to a floppy
"dd if=/dev/hda of=/mnt/floppy/mbr.dat bs=512 count=1" would seem a
sensible command to do it.
