Confused with all those /proc, /sys, /dev, /boot etc really mean and why on Earth they are there? Simply type "man hier" in your shell and hopefully you'll understand

And one of the best, too. Wonderful! I'd pulled together something similar for a teaching manual that I wrote for a client, and it took me a few hours. Wish I'd known about it then.

Thanks a lot. Thats is a discovery for me. The "man hier" has always been there and I have been going around the world asking people dumb questions about the Linux tree.

You welcome....actually I learn that from somebody else in a forum. So with great respect to "him", actually we should credit man pages maintainer (Michael Kerrisk IIRC?) for creating such helpful pages :D
