This directory contains Tomsrtbt modified to include Speakup. Tomsrtbt, by Tom Oehser <tom@toms.net>, can be found at http://www.toms.net/rb/.
Please read tomsrtbt.FAQ, and see license.html for licensing information. Standard instructions for building and customising Tomsrtbt as found in the FAQ apply.
When you boot from this Tomsrtbt disk, you will be presented with the Lilo boot prompt. Type:
linux speakup_synth=synthname
where synthname is the abbreviation for your synthesiser. See Speakup documentation for more details. Note that I have modified this Tomsrtbt such that Lilo labels the kernel "linux" and also does not prompt for VGA mode (vga=normal is set, rather than vga=ask). This modification will not apply to customised Tomsrtbt disks built from this one.
The Tomsrtbt distribution sites also include an archive which contains the tools necessary for building a Tomsrtbt disk under DOS. I have not included this here, since this method actually uses loadlin and a small initrd and kernel to write the raw image to disk. (Rawrite cannot be used because the disk is 1720k as opposed to the standard 1440k.) Most people that wish to use Tomsrtbt with Speakup probably already have access to a Linux system. If you *really* need this, drop me an email and I'll see what I can do.
An ElTorito boot image is also included on the distribution sites for booting Tomsrtbt from CD. I have not included this here, either. Again, if you really need it, email me.
If you have any other feedback or queries, feel free to email me at the address at the top of this README.
Have fun!
